Q: Can I get funding to start my business?

A: SMEgo has been specifically designed for businesses already in operation. The platform was born out of the COVID-19 pandemic as a means to assist existing businesses with finding funding after experiencing financial knocks. Businesses that have not yet been established do not qualify.

Q: How do I see all the available funds?

A: To access the relevant funding, all you have to do is to follow this simple process:

1. Register on www.app.smego.co.za as an SME.
2. Verify your account via email and then log in.
3. Answer the 10 high-level questions to filter through and show you the relevant funding options
4. Read through each one carefully and see which ones look like a good match.
5. Choose the funds that you want and apply to all of them. This can be more time-consuming, so take your time and ensure that you have your business's information and documentation ready.

Q: I don't need funding now. Can I still register on the platform?

A: Absolutely! Other than facilitating the funding process, SMEgo can still provide you with a wealth of information that can benefit you and your business.The community page provides an ecosystem for the business world, where you can communicate with other SMEs, funders and business coaches. Q: My business is based outside of South Africa. Can I receive funding opportunities from you?

A: Right now, we are still limited to South African businesses and cannot assist with providing funding outside SA borders. But watch this space and be the first to know when we launch into SADC and the rest of the continent!

Q: Do you provide funding for start-ups?

A: Your business needs to be at least six months old in order to qualify, For now, join our community page and follow us on our social media pages to get SMEgo updates for updates and insights that can help you to grow your business.

Q: What are the minimum requirements to apply?

A: The fund requirements might differ from fund to fund, however, the minimum requirements to apply are:

- R5000 turnover per month
- Trade history of at least 3 months
- Your business needs to be more than 6 months old
- You business needs to be registered as you'll need to upload your business documents onto the platform

Q: How do I know if I have been approved for funding?

A: The SMEgo platform has been built to help SMEs to track their applications. Once you have sent your application(s), you will receive a confirmation email to confirm your applications. To track your application, log into your SMEgo profile and your dashboard will be updated with the status of your applications.
